Security and Privacy

All photos and videos are fully encrypted before being transmitted. This encryption isnβt just a single layer; it involves several encryption keys that are derived from public data using a proprietary algorithm. This algorithm is crucial, as it ensures that the encryption process is unique and virtually impossible to replicate without knowing the specific algorithm used. This method guarantees that the content can only be decrypted and viewed by the intended recipient, safeguarding the privacy of the sender and the security of the content.
Once encrypted, the data is stored on a program account within the Solana blockchain. This account acts as a temporary holding space for the encrypted content. When the recipient opens the content, a specific on-chain instruction is triggered to decrypt the data, allowing the recipient to view the photo or video. Importantly, this decryption process also initiates the closure of the program account. This means that once the account is closed and the rent for the account is removed, it no longer holds any data, effectively erasing the encrypted content from the blockchain.
To further enhance security and privacy, SolSnap ensures that once the content is decrypted and made available to the recipient, it is hosted on a secure connection for a brief window of 60 seconds. After this period, the content is erased entirely, ensuring that no digital footprint remains. This mechanism not only protects the privacy of the users but also aligns with SolSnap's commitment to offering a secure platform for sharing fleeting moments.
This process embodies SolSnap's innovative approach to combining the ephemeral nature of social interactions with the security and privacy benefits of blockchain technology. It reassures users that their shared moments are not only secure from unauthorized access but also truly transient, mirroring the natural ephemerality of real-world interactions.
